Am I required to do a final walk through?

You are not required to do a final walkthrough. You aren't even required to do inspections but both are really recommended. It is a good idea to do both and unless it absolutely impossible to do a final walkthrough should always be done. As far as inspections that is another thing that should be done. Even if you waive inspection objections an inspection should still be done.
