Golden Colorado is The Place to Live Near Denver

The city of Golden, located close to Denver, is a very special place for me – I tied the knot here! I have spent a considerable amount of time in this mountain town over the last few years, and I truly cherish it.

This ex-mining settlement has an unmistakable Wild West feel, with rustic brick edifices all over the town and a plethora of cowboy memorabilia. It is also the hometown of the Colorado School of Mines, which adds a lot of liveliness to the place.

Nestled in the valley of Clear Creek, and surrounded by the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, it is a stunning sight. During late spring and early summer, the landscape is lush with wildflowers, and in autumn, the trees that line the banks of Clear Creek provide a beautiful golden shimmer.

The town of Golden boasts a wealth of hiking and biking trails, many of which are conveniently located in the middle of town. I recently wrote a piece about the top hikes in Golden which I highly recommend. In the summer months, Clear Creek is perfect for tubing the rapids, offering an exciting adventure while cooling you off.

Include Golden on your Denver itinerary! The city offers a stunning view of Clear Creek that should not be missed.

If mountaineering is your passion, the American Mountaineering Museum is a great place to explore. Alternatively, if you have a taste for Coors Beer, why not take a tour of the brewery? I’m told there’s a free beer waiting for you at the finish!

Where to Dine in Golden: Begin your day by savoring a southern-style breakfast at Sassafras on their riverside patio. Golden Mill presents a food hall with five different food vendors that provide sushi, chicken, tacos, New Zealand ice cream, and self-serve beer taps. For a pleasant atmosphere, try Sherpa House for a delightful Himalayan cuisine, and also to explore the cultural center.

What are the Best Drinking Spots in Golden? If you’re looking for a good time, check out New Terrain, Mountain Toad, and Golden City Brewing. You’ll usually find food trucks there during the day. For something different, visit the Miners Saloon and Golden Moon Speak, which operates as both a speakeasy and distillery. You can enjoy handcrafted cocktails at the latter.
