When you start heading west of Denver towards the mountains (and Evergreen) things can get a little dicey in the winter. I70 can be closed on a moment’s notice. It is a Beautiful Summer Drive Through Evergreen
In the summer you will want to take a drive through the canyon next to Bear Creek and take a detour and stop at Red Rocks. It is a spectacular view even coming up I70 into Evergreen and looking at the divide. If you take the longer scenic routes you will not be disappointed. It may take a little longer but since you are on your mountain vacation that won’t matter to you.
It’s important to remember when your are planning your drive to Evergreen that in the mountains no road trip is a straight line. Nothing like the roads in major cities. If you are looking at how the crow flies instead of drive times you might be late for lunch.
