Another on the list of Denver Mountain Towns is Idaho Springs, a popular destination for travelers. This town is known for its breathtaking views and is a great place for those who love the outdoors. It’s also home to some fantastic restaurants, making it a great spot for a vacation.

I have a special fondness for Idaho Springs, which is nearby Denver and offers a wide variety of activities. It is also very easy to get to.

Established in 1859 during the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush, Idaho Springs is home to a number of historic buildings which have been restored and now house boutiques, microbreweries, eateries, and plenty of souvenir shops. The main street, Miner Street, is the perfect place to spend a few hours exploring.

Idaho Springs is a great place to take a hike and enjoy the scenery of St Mary’s Glacier, or to go white water rafting. The rapids range from Class III-V, making it an ideal destination for adventure seekers of all levels.

Gaining knowledge of the town’s mining background is possible through two tours – Argo Gold Mine and Phoenix Gold Mine. Additionally, the Underhill Museum, a small mining museum, is located in the same town.

In the summertime, visitors can reach the peak of the 14,270 foot Mount Evans from Idaho Springs by taking the Mount Evans Scenic Byway.

The city of Idaho Springs is renowned for being near Indian Hot Springs, which is the closest hot springs located near Denver. This renowned destination provides visitors with a large pool situated in a greenhouse, as well as geothermal caves and private pools.

This small town of Idaho Springs is amazing and it has all that is great about Colorado packed into it. It is definitely a destination that should be on everyone’s list if they are close to Denver.

Eating in Idaho Springs: For those with limited time in the city, the original BeauJo’s is a must-visit for their Colorado-style pizza. Main Street Restaurant offers up the best breakfast experience, and Smokin Yard’s BBQ is the go-to for Southern BBQ favorites.

Idaho Springs Beverage Options: If craft beer is preferred, Westbound & Down Brewing Company and Tommy Knocker Brewery are excellent choices in Idaho Springs. For a more casual atmosphere, The Vintage Moose dive bar is an ideal spot.
