Colorado has a lot of different climates, depending on where you are in the state. The capital, Denver, is in the middle of the Rocky Mountains and has ground level elevation that ranges from 5,280 to 5,430 feet (1610-1670 m). There are plains and plateaus to the east and west of Denver at lower elevations.
